Why Are Good Emails Going to Spam (And How to Fix It)?
So you sent an important email… but it landed in someone’s Spam folder instead of their inbox. Or maybe someone tried to email you and it never arrived at all. Frustrating, right?
Let’s walk through why that happens, how to check it, and what you (and we) can do to fix it.
First, a Quick Reminder: What Is Spam?
Spam emails are like junk mail—messages that people didn’t ask for. Think: strange offers, fake prizes, or emails from people pretending to be someone else.
Spam filters try to protect you by keeping those messages out of your inbox.
But sometimes, good emails get flagged by mistake—like accidentally throwing out a birthday card because it looked like a flyer.
Why Good Emails End Up in Spam
Here are the most common reasons:
1. Your Message Looked Like Spam
Spam filters look at the content. If your email says things like:
- “LIMITED TIME!!!”
- “Get Rich Now!”
- Has lots of CAPS, colors, or !!!!!!!
…it might get flagged—even if you meant well.
2. Your Email Isn’t Verified (SPF/DKIM/DMARC)
If you’re using your own domain (like yourname@yourbusiness.com), email providers want to see proof that you’re allowed to send from that domain. That’s where these come in:
- SPF = Who’s allowed to send email for your domain
- DKIM = A digital signature that says “Yes, this came from me”
- DMARC = What to do if SPF or DKIM don’t match
3. The Recipient’s Email Provider Was Extra Cautious
Sometimes services like Gmail or Outlook just decide “this looks suspicious” based on things like the subject line, sender history, or volume of similar messages.
What You Can Do
Check Your Spam/Junk Folder
This one’s obvious—but don’t skip it! Many good emails hide in spam folders quietly.
Add Senders to Your “Safe List” (aka Whitelist)
Tell your email provider: “Hey, I trust this person.”
In most email apps, you can do this by adding the sender to your contacts.
Be Careful With Formatting
Avoid ALL CAPS, excessive exclamation points, and spammy phrases in subject lines.

If you’re hosted on HubSeek and something important is being blocked—or if someone says your emails never make it to them—reach out. We can adjust filters, check logs, and whitelist safe senders.
Bonus: If You Send a Lot of Emails (like a newsletter or auto-replies)
You should make sure:
- You’re not sending to outdated or fake email addresses
- Your messages include a clear subject, footer, and an unsubscribe option (if applicable)
- You’re sending from an email that matches your domain (like info@yourdomain.com, not myemail123@gmail.com)
