How to Set Up Link Controller with HubSeek Hosting: A Simple Step-by-Step Guide
Welcome to your step-by-step guide on setting up Link Controller with HubSeek hosting! We’ve made it straightforward to get your custom link pages up and running. Think of Link Controller as your personal link hub—where you can organize and share multiple links through one clean, customized page.
Let’s walk through the process!
What You’ll Need Before Starting
After purchasing HubSeek hosting for Link Controller, you’ll receive an email containing important information:
- Your hosting username
- Instructions to set your password
- Links to your control panel
You may also see a thank you page after purchase. Keep these details handy—you’ll need them!
What is Link Controller?
Link Controller is a powerful tool for creating custom link pages (similar to Linktree) that you can host on your own domain. Instead of using a generic subdomain, you’ll have complete control with your own branded link page.
At HubSeek, we provide the hosting infrastructure, so you just need to follow these steps to get everything connected.
Step 1: Prepare Your Domain
You have two options for getting a domain set up with Link Controller:
Option A: Use a Domain You Already Own
If you already have a domain (like “myawesomesite.com”) registered elsewhere, you’ll need to point it to HubSeek’s nameservers.
Important: Before making any changes, save a copy of your current DNS settings. Take a screenshot or write them down—this ensures you have a backup if needed.
Update your nameservers to:
- ns1.hubseek.com
- ns2.hubseek.com
Common registrar instructions:
GoDaddy:
- Log into your GoDaddy account
- Go to My Products
- Click on your domain, then Manage DNS
- Under Nameservers, click Change
- Select Custom and enter the two nameservers above
Namecheap:
- Log into your Namecheap account
- Go to Domain List
- Click Manage next to your domain
- Under Nameservers, select Custom DNS
- Enter the two nameservers above
Google Domains / Squarespace:
- Log into your account
- Go to My Domains
- Select your domain and click DNS
- Under Name Servers, choose Use Custom Name Servers
- Add the two nameservers above
Important Note: After changing nameservers, DNS propagation can take up to 24 hours, though it’s usually much faster (just a few minutes). During this time, your domain is being updated across the internet.
Option B: Purchase a New Domain Through HubSeek
Visit https://links.linkcontroller.com/ryan/domains to purchase a new domain directly through HubSeek. This option is simpler since everything is automatically configured for you.
Step 2: Log Into Your HubSeek Hosting Panel
You can access your hosting panel in two ways:
Option 1: Through the Client Portal (Recommended)
- Go to client.hubseek.com
- Log in with your credentials
- Click Products & Services
- Find Link Controller Premium Hosting
- Click Login to Control Panel
Option 2: Direct Login
- Go directly to panel.hubseek.com
- Enter your HubSeek Panel username (from your welcome email)
- Enter your password
For a visual walkthrough of accessing the control panel, watch our video guide at: https://hubseek.com/help-center/the-control-panel/
Step 3: Add Your Website
Once you’re in the control panel:
- Look for the Add Website button (typically at the top of the interface)
- Click Add Website
Step 4: Configure Your Website Settings
When the form loads:
- Leave all default options selected—they’re already configured correctly
- Locate the Domain field (marked with an asterisk)
- Enter your domain name (example: myawesomesite.com)
- Click the Add button
Step 5: Verify Nameserver Configuration
After adding your website, you may see a warning message:
“To connect your domain(s), log in to your domain provider and update your nameservers to: ns1.hubseek.com ns2.hubseek.com”
If you see this warning:
- Complete Step 1 if you haven’t already updated your nameservers
- Wait for DNS propagation to complete (can take up to 24 hours)
If you don’t see this warning:
- Great! Your domain is properly configured. Continue to the next step.
To check propagation status:
- Visit whatsmydns.net
- Enter your domain name
- Select “NS” from the dropdown menu
- Click Search
- Look for ns1.hubseek.com and ns2.hubseek.com in the results
Step 6: Download Link Controller Installation Files
Now you’ll download the Link Controller software:
- Keep your HubSeek control panel open in one browser tab
- Open a new tab and go to https://linkcontroller.com/deploy
- Make sure you’re logged into Link Controller
- Click the Download Scripts button
- A popup warning will appear: “I understand – I will upload to an EMPTY location only”
- Click I Understand, Download Now
- A file named 1-scripts.zip will download to your computer
Remember where this file downloads—you’ll need it in the next steps (typically in your Downloads folder).
Step 7: Access the File Manager
Back in your HubSeek control panel:
- Locate and click on the Files or File Manager section
- This will open your hosting file manager
Step 8: Navigate to the Correct Directory
In the file manager:
- Find the folder named public_html
- Double-click to open it
The public_html folder is where all publicly accessible website files are stored. Make sure this folder is empty before proceeding. If there are existing files and you’re unsure about them, contact HubSeek support before continuing.
Step 9: Upload the Installation Files
You have two methods to upload the 1-scripts.zip file:
Method 1: Drag and Drop
- Locate the 1-scripts.zip file on your computer
- Drag it directly into the file manager window
- Wait for the upload to complete
Method 2: Upload Button
- Click the Upload button in the file manager
- Select the 1-scripts.zip file from your computer
- Click Open or Upload
- Wait for the upload to complete
You’ll typically see a progress indicator or success message when the upload finishes.
Step 10: Extract the Installation Files
Once the upload is complete:
- Right-click (or Ctrl+click on Mac) on the 1-scripts.zip file
- Select Uncompress, Extract, or Unzip from the menu
- Wait a few moments for the extraction to complete
You should now see multiple new files and folders appear in the public_html directory.
Step 11: Run the Installation Script
Now Link Controller will configure itself:
- Open a new browser tab
- Navigate to: http://yourdomain.com/install.php
- Replace “yourdomain.com” with your actual domain
- Example: http://bestlinks.com/install.php
- Press Enter and wait for the installation to run
Step 12: Verify Installation Success
The installation page will display several messages. Look for this message near the bottom:
Installation Complete!
If you see this message, the installation was successful! Other messages on the page are normal and simply show the installation process working correctly.
Step 13: Start Using Link Controller
Your Link Controller installation is now complete!
- Return to Link Controller (https://linkcontroller.com)
- Log into your account
- Begin adding and managing your links
All links you create will now appear on your custom domain.
